October 31^st Halloween

Halloween is celebrated all over the world on October 31^st therefore it is a good idea to explore it with our students.

Themed classes are a great opportunity to learn not only English language but other aspects of the English speaking culture.

Halloween es celebra a tot el món el 31 d'octubre, per tant és una bona idea per explorar amb els nostres alumnes.
Classes temàtiques són una gran oportunitat d'aprendre no només l'idioma anglès, sinó també altres aspectes de la cultura anglesa.

Background

Halloween originated as a pagan festival especially in Northern Europe. Some people claim that Halloween is a day on which spirits try to contact living people. As it takes place one evening before Christian All Saints’s Day, it is also called All Saint’s Eve.

Halloween va sorgir com un festival pagà sobretot al nord d'Europa. Algunes persones afirmen que Halloween és un dia en què els esperits intenten posar-se en contacte amb la gent de vida.

What do people do?

Typical festive activities for Halloween include the use of costumes and masks, carving lanterns out of pumpkins, playing pranks, telling scary stories and playing treat- or –tricks. Halloween costumes range from vampires, ghosts and skeletons to witches and devil creatures.

Activitats festives típiques per Halloween inclouen l'ús de vestits i màscares, buidant les carabasses, fent bromes, explicant històries de por i jugant “Tracte o broma” Algunes disfresses de Halloween poden ser: vampirs, fantasmes , esquelets , bruixes i diables.

We have read some texts and poems about Halloween. This is usually a great time to introduce a wide range of new vocabulary which they may not normally appear. We have learnt some new vocabulary about Halloween such as: Pumpkin, witch, ghost, candy, spider, monster, trick or treat….

Creating Classroom Routines & Procedures

In Our school children start to learn English in the Pre-School (P4- P5).
Children learn English with Patch's puppet and the magic box.

A la nostra escola  introduim l'aprenentatge de la llengua anglesa  a P4 i P5. Els nens i nenes aprenen amb en Patch i la caixa màgica.

 This course we have just introduced classroom routines due to the fact that English classes last one hour. Routines are the backbone of daily classroom life. They facilitate teaching and learning. Routines don't just make our life easier, they save valuable classroom time. And what's most important, efficient routines make it easier for students to learn and achieve more.

Enguany al disposar de sessions d'un hora podem incloure les rutines pròpies de la jornada escolar. Les rutines són l'eix vertebrador del treball diari de l'aula; ens faciliten el procés d'ensenyament - aprenentatge. I el que és més important, fan que l'alumnat aprengui cada cop més.

Taking Attendance.

After the bustle of putting away bags, coats...The  best way to start English classes is taking attendance and discussing about routines tasks (the weather, date, time...). They can help bring students together and built community in the classroom.

En arribar al matí, després de penjar les motxilles , jaquetes...La millor manera de començar les classes d'anglès és passant llista i fent les rutines  ( el temps, la data, l'hora...). Les rutines ens ajuden a crear un bon clima dins de l'aula .

 We start classes making a circle and  singing "Hello song".
Comencem la classe fent una rotllana i cantant la cançó del " Bon dia".

Every morning we wake up Patch. We have to say : "Patch wake up , please".
Cada matí hem de despertar en Patch. Hem de dir: "Pacht, desperta, si us plau".

English Day P5 - 16 de juny

ENGLISH ACTIVITIES IN 2nd

Last Monday 9th June, the 2nd graders had a special class.  A storyteller called Cristina explained them two wonderful stories, Giraffes can't dance and The catterpillar, and she also played some games in English with the students . THANKS, CRISTINA.
El passat dilluns  9 de juny, els alumnes de 2n van tenir una classe molt especial. Una contacontes que es diu Cristina els va explicar dues històries i també va jugar amb ells alguns jocs en anglès. GRÀCIES, CRISTINA.

English Day - 16 de JUNY

Last 29th of March we had to cancel the English Day. We will finally celebrate it the 16th of June. Because it's an Intensive Day, we will do the English Day only in the morning, so we have to bring only the breakfast. 

El passat dia 29 de Maig vam haver de cancelar la trobada English Day. El dia que finalment ho celebrarem serà el dia 16 de Juny. Fruit de la Jornada Intensiva, farem la sortida només de matí i, per tant, només cal portar l'esmorzar.

P5 ENGLISH DAY - 29 Maig

The 29th of May is the day of the ENGLISH DAY. It will be like any other trip, so children have to bring breakfast and lunch. Just get to school we'll change the shirt to the English Day shirt. Then we'll take the bus to Pallaresa school in Santa Coloma de Gramenet. There we'll meet our friends from 1st course of Primary and we'll make a lot of games with them, dance songs that we shared, sing the English Day anthem, etc. We'll have lunch in the park that is right across from Pallaresa school and we will be back here at 16:30 as a normal day. 

We look forward to the day arrives!

El dia 29 de Maig és el dia de l' ENGLISH DAY. Serà com qualsevol altra excursió, així que cal portar esmorzar i dinar. Només arribar a l'escola ens canviarem la samarreta i ens posarem la samarreta de l'English Day. Seguidament agafarem l'autocar cap a l'escola Pallaresa de Santa Coloma de Gramenet. Allà coneixerem els nostres amics i amigues de 1r de Primària i farem un munt de jocs amb ells, ballarem les cançons que ens vam intercanviar, cantarem l'himne de l'English Day, etc. Dinarem al parc que hi ha just davant de l'escola Pallaresa i tornarem per ser aquí a les 16,30h com cada dia. 

Estem impacients perquè arribi el dia!

FRANKENSTEIN

We were lucky enough to have a special visit from the IPA Theatre Company, who did a tremendous performance of 'Frankenstein' for us in our school. It was very entertaining and they even involved some members of the audience, as you can see in the photos below! The children of grades 5 and 6 were encouraged to speak English by answering questions on stage, which they did very well despite the pressure! They were also able to sing along to the songs. Well done to everyone! We are glad you enjoyed it.
Hem tingut molta sort de gaudir d'un espectacle de IPA Theatre, que va representar Frankenstein. L'obra va ser molt entretinguda i molts nens van participar en ella com podeu veure en las fotos. Els alumnes de 5è i 6è han practicat anglès a través de les preguntes que els feien a l'escenari i cantant les cançons. Enhorabona a tothom i encantats de que us hagi agradat.

T-shirts ENGLISH DAY

Last week P5 group colored a paper with the winner Logo and the last day before Ester Holidays we had a big surprise... All the T-shirts for the English Day arrived at school!

La setmana passava el grup de P5 va pintar un paper amb el logo guanyador i l'últim dia abans de les vacances de Setmana Santa vam tenir una gran sorpresa... Totes les samarretes per "l'English Day" van arribar a l'escola!

Easter in P4 and P5

Last week Patch and Louisa showed us how they celebrate the Easter Holidays in England. The Easter rabbit hides eggs and children have to find them! And they like to paint boiled eggs! We've played with the Easter Rabbit, we've sung a song and finally we've colored an Easter Egg!

La setmana passada en Patch i la Louisa ens van mostrar com celebren les festes de Setmana Santa a Anglaterra. El conill de Pasqua amaga els ous i els nens els han de trobar! I també els agrada pintar ous bollits! Hem jugat amb el conill de Pasqua, hem cantat una cançó i, finalment, hem acolorit un ou de Pasqua!

LOGO samarreta English Day!

This last months we have been developing the LOGO of the t-shirt we are going to wear in the English Day. Each student has drawn a LOGO, then all the students of our school have voted for their two favorites and finally the two winners of each school, participating in the same project, have taken part in the last choice.  

The winning LOGO is the one with a bus and with the name of all the participating schools around it. We have to thank to Richmond Editorial that takes care of the t-shirts cost.

Aquests darrers mesos hem estat elaborant el LOGO de la samarreta que portarem el dia de l'English Day. Cada alumne ha fet un LOGO, després a l'escola totohom ha votat els seus dos LOGOS preferits i finalment els dos guanyadors de cada escola, participants del mateix projecte, han format part en l'ultima tria.

El LOGO guanador és el de lautobús amb el nom de totes les escoles participants al voltant. Hem d'agrair a l'Editorial Richmond que es fa càrreg del cost de les samarretes. 

ENGLISH DAY: 2n Intercanvi amb l'escola Pallaresa

This week we've exchanged songs with the 1st grup from Pallaresa school. They've sent us a video of the song "Five Little Monkeys" and we've sent them another of the song "Hokey Pokey." Now we have to learn how to sing and dance the song for the "English Day", that we will sing both songs all together.

Aquesta setmana hem intercanviat cançons amb el grup de 1r de l'escola Pallaresa. Ells ens han enviat un vídeo de la cançó "Five Little Monkeys" i nosatres els hem enviat la cançó "Hokey Pokey". Ara haurem d'aprendre com ballar i cantar la cançó pel dia del "English Day", que cantarem tots junts les dues cançons.

Last week P4 groups learned a new game with the favourite toy of Patch, the teddy bear! We are very excited!

La setmana passada els grups de P4 vam aprendre un nou joc amb la joguina preferida del Patch, l'ós de peluix! Estem molt entusiasmats i entusiasmades!

Pancake day

Pancake day in Britain, or 'Shrove Tuesday' is a day where everyone cooks lots of delicious pancakes to mark the day before Ash wednesday, the start of Lent. Lent is when we give up something we like for 40 days and 40 nights! What are you going to give up for Lent?

Let's all make a pancake together! Here is the recipe:

Ingredients for 14 small pancakes:
2 eggs
150g flour
200ml milk
A pinch of salt
50g butter

Preparation:
Put the flour and salt into a bowl. Then put the milk and eggs in the bowl. Mix with a spoon. Put some butter in a pan. Heat it until it melts, then cook the pancake for two minutes. Flip the pancake over to cook the other side, and enjoy!

Suggestions:
You can eat them with sugar and lemon, chocolate cream, jam or maple syrup!

English Theatre at our school

Friday was a very special day because we had a visit from Look Out Theatre Company. They performed so well and made everyone laugh and join in! We had already rehearsed a few of the well-known children's songs, such as 'Head, shoulders, knees and toes' and 'In the Jungle', so it was fun to sing along!

El passat divendres va ser un dia molt especial perquè vam tenir la companyia de Teatre Look Out a la nostra escola. Van actuar molt bé i ens van fer riure. Havíem assajat unes cançons i va ser divertit cantar-les tots plegats.

My favourite person, Prezi

Our 3rd cycle have been busy putting together an online presentation about their favourite person, using Prezi presentations. They have used descriptions in English, a youtube video and a photo to make the presentation look fun and interesting! We are very pleased with the results. 
El tercer cicle ha estat molt ocupat preparant una descripció del seu personatge favorit, fent servir la pàgina web Prezi. Han fet descripcions en anglès, han buscat un video i una foto per fer-lo més atractiu i interessant! Estem encantats amb els resultats.

This year P5 group are going to be in contact with other children from Pallaresa School in Santa Coloma de Gramanet. They are getting very excited to finally meet them in person in May! This month we've prepared a presentation about our school. 

Aquest curs el grup de P5 estarà en contacte amb alumnes de l'escola Pallaresa de Santa Coloma de Gramanet. Estan molt contents per conèixe'ls en persona a la trobada que farem al mes de Maig! Aquest mes els hem preparat una presentació sobre la nostra escola.
